Matervini Viña Canota Malbec 2022 is the Malbec that Matervini, the winery of Santiago Achával and Roberto Cipresso, grows in the Canota Valley, in the Pre-Cordillera of Las Heras, about 20 miles north of the city of Mendoza, next to the Villavicencio nature reserve. The valley recently received its own Geographical Indication, IG Valle de Canota. The vineyard sits at 3,100 feet on geology far older than the Andes, with structured clay-loam soils and little alluvial influence, and it is irrigated with spring water. The 2022 was harvested on February 19, 2022 and bottled on July 3, 2023, with a yield of 1.4 tons per acre and 350 cases made.
