Description
Familia Altieri Winemaker's Selection Ancellotta celebrates the authenticity of Ancellotta from Perdriel, capturing the unique essence of this land. Originally from Emilia-Romagna in northern Italy, Ancellotta is a variety that almost nobody bottles on its own in Argentina, which makes this one of the rarest reds in the country.
The fruit comes from a vineyard in Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo, at an average altitude of 950 metres, on silt and sand soils under drip irrigation. Winters are cold with occasional snowfall and summers are temperate with cool nights, with an average annual rainfall of 230 mm.
Harvest is manual in 15 kg cases, followed by a strict selection of clusters and berries. The wine undergoes a six-day pre-fermentation maceration at 8 °C in stainless steel, then 15 days of alcoholic fermentation at 25 °C with indigenous yeasts. It is aged 6 months in 100% medium-toast French oak barrels and rests a further 8 months in bottle.
"Deep red with bluish tones. Intense aromas of red fruit such as raspberry and sour cherry, with subtle notes of tobacco and chocolate. Voluminous on the palate, with a balanced structure and a good balance of acidity."
